COURSE OBJECTIVES

■ Understanding the principle and application of Magnetic Flux Leakage

■ Understanding the advantages and disadvantages of the method and choose the appropriate technique for testing

■ Having sufficient knowledge and competence to carry out standardization of test equipment in accordance with required standards.

■ Being able to interpret and evaluate test results according to regulations, standards and technical requirements.

■ Being able to report testing results according to proper testing procedure

Purpose

This qualification adds reliability and confidence to the Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL) inspections of Above Ground Storage Tanks (AST’s), and provides assurance to asset owners that technicians are of a demonstrated competence.

Qualification

It provides the first SNT-TC-1A MFL training course for the inspection of AST’s. It provides an independently verified combined Level 1 and 2 qualification for SNT certification against a published Written Practice.

Course Content

The 80 hour Level I/Level 2 course and examinations cover the General Theory of MFL, the Specific Theory of controlling codes and specifications and practical application using modern MFL equipment. It is aligned with syllabus published by ASNT standard Topical Outlines for Qualification of NDT personnel ANSI/ASNT CP- 105:2016 and the qualification, examinations and certification are based on the ASNT recommended practice SNT-TC-1A as documented in a specific and detailed written practice provided as part of the course.
